Also includes letter, 22 April 1861, from Golding's sister, Sallie H. Cater, Homerville, Tenn., describing excitement caused by the attack on Fort Sumter, popular sentiment favoring secession, and rumors regarding arrest of Gen. [Winfield] Scott following his resignation.
